BAUER, a world leader in the field of high pressure compressor systems, is in search of a Technical Writer that is bilingual in English/Spanish to join the Bauer Engineering Team.

Description:
The qualified individual will be responsible for the development of operators and maintenance manuals for high-pressure compressors packaged for various industries, gases, pressures and end-uses. Includes the creation of new manuals, maintaining existing manuals, preparation of specialized graphics, maintaining on-line manuals, creation of CD-ROM manuals per sales and other administrative functions to support the documentation needs of the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes the following, but other duties may be assigned.

  • Research, write and print manuals for new products and special order products, also research revise and print current manuals
  • Clean up and optimize digital photos for inclusion into manuals
  • Maintain originals of BKM manuals, maintain hardcopy and/or electronic master of all manuals
  • Maintain current revisions of engineering drawings in hardcopy master files
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Scan and redrew or convert raster graphics to vector graphics.
  • Print all manuals to .PDF format for on-line and CD-ROM documents
  • Maintain offsite CD-ROM backup of all electronic manuals
  • Interfaces with Sales, Q.A. and Manufacturing departments
  • Works closely with Engineering Product Managers

Nonessential Functions:

  • Assigned collateral projects and duties to support departmental operation needs

Qualifications:

  • The qualified applicant must be fluent in technical English and Spanish
  • Knowledge of Microsoft: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Filemaker Pro
  • Familiarity with Adobe Frame Maker 6.0, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Knowledge of compressors and pneumatics desirable
  • Basic knowledge of electrical motor controls desirable

Education and Experience:

  • AS in Engineering Technology or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience creating technical documentation
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an industrial environment

Work Environment:

Normal hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday thru Friday, with some overtime required. Smoking is allowed in some designated areas. The noise levels in some manufacturing facilities frequently may exceed the normal dba.
